ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
Ahead of United and Spurs facing each other in the Premier League on Sunday, Amorim suggested the pressure on him is far greater than Postecoglou is facing in north London, due to the differing expectations at either club.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Ahead of the weekend, United and Spurs sat 13th and 14th respectively in the Premier League table. Neither club is having a good season, well below usual standards, and each manager has faced pressure on their jobs. But the spotlight is arguably greater on United given their record of success in the Premier League era, including multiple cups even in a relatively barren ten-year period, compared to Spurs not winning a league title since 1961 and only lifting one trophy this century.

WHAT RUBEN AMORIM SAID
Amorim said: "I can understand the connection between me and Ange, we have the same problems, but with all due respect I am in a bigger club with bigger pressure. Of course [I feel sympathy for him], especially because he's a good guy, a very good coach and he wants to play football in the right way. That, for me, is a very good thing. We know when we choose this kind of profession it's a lot of good things but then you have to feel that pressure when you don’t win."

WHAT NEXT?
The two managers will go head to head at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in Sunday's late afternoon kick-off. No matter other results, a victory wouldn't be good enough for either to break into the top half of the Premier League standings. Consistency in the remaing third of the season is critical if United or Spurs are to make their respective 2024-25 campaigns even remotely respectable.
