Tottenham’s attempts to make Emmanuel Adebayor’s move to White Hart Lane permanent could well be scuppered by a wages dispute, with the player threatening to see out his contract at Manchester City according to The Sun.

The Togolese striker played last season on loan in north London, with Spurs now eager to add the forward to their squad for good.

However, with Adebayor earning £175,000-a-week currently at the Etihad Stadium, the African hitman will need to take a significant pay cut to join Andre Villas-Boas’ men.

With a transfer fee of around £6 million thought to have been agreed upon by the Premier League clubs, a wrangle over wages is set to see the deal run aground.

“Manu is digging his heels in and I don’t think this is going to be sorted any time soon,” one of Adebayor’s friends is quoted as saying by the newspaper.

“He’s the sort of guy who will see out his contract rather than cave in.”
